Lot's of fun art making in these  live mini-workshops!  Kid's ages 8 and up can enjoy informal  learning in hour long sessions. In each session I will present a project for students to complete.  Supplies can be purchased through my site or you can provide the supplies. See the supply list for each class at the bottom of this page. Sign up for one or a series of classes online.
I'm Sarah Butcher. I having been teaching art independently and in private schools for over 20 years. I love making art and teaching all kinds of artistic processes. We will explore painting, collage, clay, model making and more.

Summer Art Classes for Kids

I use Google Classroom for my online classes. This allows me to use Google Meet for the live session.  Once you register for the class I will send you a code to sign in to the class. In addition to the live session, I will provide addtional resources relating to the workshop for that day.  Students will be able to post their work If they wish to a class gallery and get feedback from me and other kids in the class.

Architectual Model Making Ages 12 and up

Picture
Artist Drew Leshko has provided inspiration for this course. He creates amazingly realistic models like this one.
This 4 part STEM workshop will lead students through the steps to create a cardboard study model of a building. You will explore model making from concept to finished structure.
Students will learn:
Planning, Sketching and Design
Basic cardboard joining techniques
Measuring and cutting
Assembly and embellishment
This course requires that students and parents understand the safety rules of the class. We will be using sharp tools to cut cardboard. I can provide pre-cut pieces for those who do not feel comfortable using an exacto knife.
Materials:
Paper and pencil for sketching
Cardboard ( Amazon Boxes work well)
Masking tape
Hot glue gun and glue sticks
Craft Paint
Metal ruler at least 12" long ( If you are interested in creating a larger model you may need an 18" ruler.)
Exacto Knife
Optional - Popsicle or craft sticks, model cars, trucks, people
